After playing around on Codewars and taking a few Codecademy classes, I decided it was time to work on my first real project. I wanted to learn how HTML, CSS, and Javascript all worked together to make a site. I decided to create a simple two player tic-tac-toe game with a scoreboard and the option for X or O to go first.

My layout inspiration came from Linkedin, using floating white containers on a light gray background. Since I didn’t know Bootstrap at the time, I struggled a lot with layout and centering. This taught me to appreciate Bootstrap and where it’s helpful in a project. I ended up using flexbox to align everything, but I still had to fiddle with CSS to make everything perfect.

My other main struggle was with jQuery and Javascript. At first, I was banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how to solve all of my problems with jQuery. I got so wrapped up in it that I forgot vanilla Javascript was even an option. Once I began to use both of them cohesively, I found my problems a lot easier to solve.
